Associate Production Manager – PBS NewsHour
Full-time, Regular
Reports to: Senior Director, Production Management
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Associate Production Manager, you will work directly with the Senior Director of Production Management. In this role, you will technically manage bookings for remote live shots, assign video editors and schedule video recordings. While supporting the nightly broadcast of the PBS NewsHour, you will be particularly focused on the production of Washington Week and PBS NewsHour Weekend. This position will work a Wednesday-Sunday schedule.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You will learn how to book and assign live shots, operate and troubleshoot our broadcast Skype system, manage remote- and in-studio recordings, utilize the department’s administrative and communications systems, assign video editors and manage resource work orders.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Performing collaboratively and independently at your best level, troubleshooting with minimal assistance, mastering our broadcast Skype system, successfully finding and booking domestic and international remote studios, communicating punctually and clearly with remote, control room, and technical staffs. Confidence and willingness to adapt on the spot.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Extremely sharp technical skills.
  • Strong interest in creative problem solving under live news constraints.
  • Prior experience in satellite and fiber transmission is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AVID iNews, Interplay and SchedulAll programs are a plus.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate technical concepts easily.
Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
